A customer on Brisbane’s north side had a scuffed and damaged front bumper on their Holden Commodore. Instead of booking it into a body shop and going without the car for a few days, they had it repaired at home. The damage
The front bumper had paint damage across the lower section, with an area that needed filling and reshaping before any new paint could go on. Damage like this is easy to leave, but bare and broken paint lets moisture in over time, so it is worth sorting while it is still small.
Preparation and primer
Most of a good paint repair is in the preparation. The bumper was sanded back and filled where it needed it, then the surrounding panels, lights and grille were masked off with paper and tape so only the repair area would be painted. Once it was prepped, the bumper was coated in grey primer, ready for colour.
Colour-matched respray
The paint was mixed to the car’s factory colour code, then sprayed and blended into the surrounding panel so the repair sits flush with the rest of the car. Everything was finished on site, so the customer never had to drop the car off or arrange a lift home.
